Treon Goossen has been
involved in the homeschool movement for over 22 years. She is a co-author of
the current CO homeschool statute which was enacted in 1988. She has since
monitored the state legislature to ensure that the hard won freedoms are not
restricted. Treon has served in many capacities on the state and local levels
including serving on the Colorado Home School Advisory Committee with the
Colorado Department of Education, the advisory council to the Home School Legal
Defense Association, the board of Christian Home Educators of Colorado, the
board of the Colorado Springs Home School Support Group, and is currently the
Home Education Legislative Analyst/Liaison for Colorado.
Treon is a frequent
conference and support group speaker. She offers insights into the CO
homeschool statute, legal options in CO, and encouraging workshops for parents
considering homeschooling or seasoned veterans. Treon is the proud recipient of
the Ruth Beechick Award(2002) from Christian Home Educators of Colorado and the
Homeschool Liberty Award (2006) from the Home School Legal Defense Association.
